Our Newest Hitty Family Member

Today Hitty Maggie and Hitty Dot are having a blast playing with their dollhouse and clothespin dolls.

The mailman arrives as they are playing, and they are delighted to see that they have a new package to open!

“Oh my, it’s from Hitty Joy, Cousin Ida and their person Sherry” exclaims Hitty Dot “This is a wonderful surprise for us”!

Hitty Maggie opens the mail and reaches into the envelope to pull out their newest surprise.   She struggles to get the package out, as Hitty Dot watches.

“A little help would be nice” says Hitty Maggie.

“I’ll certainly help” says Hitty Dot, “I was just trying to stay out of your way”.

Together they pull the package out of the envelope.

“My, whatever could this be” exclaims Hitty Maggie.  “It’s too big to be any new dresses, and too soft to be furniture.  Maybe it’s a nice picture to hang on the wall!”

“What ever it is “says Hittys Dot, “We’re sure to love it, but I don’t think it’s a picture because it’s too thick to hang on a wall.”

They both gasp in surprise as they unroll the package.  It’s not something for them to wear, or something for their new home, it’s something that’s much much better!  They now have a new and wonderful Hickory friend!

“Welcome to the family” exclaims Hitty Maggie as she grabs the Hickory dolls hands.  “You must be tired from your travel, please rest a moment and tell us all about yourself!”

“Yes, first what is your name” says Hitty Dot.  “My name is Hitty Dot, and this here is Hitty Maggie, she’s Hitty Mother to many other Hittys who live in the Merry Happy Hittys land”.

“It’s nice to meet you both” says the Hickory doll, “but I don’t have a name yet.”

“Oh well we will have to name you first then “says Hitty Maggie “Let me think for a moment, we have to be sure to think of a very special name for you”.

Hitty Dot dances around the room as she calls out names that she likes “Abigail, Betty, Cathy, Dawn, Evelyn, Francis, Glenda, Helga, Ingrid, Jackie, Katherine, Lucy…”

“Oh my, Helga is lovely” says the Hickory doll “Can that be my new name?”

“Hickory Helga, it sounds perfect and it’s a wonderful name for a Hickory doll” exclaims Hitty Maggie.  “Hickory Helga it is then”!

“Now rest a moment and tell us more about yourself” says Hitty Maggie.

“I can’t rest, my pet is still in the envelope and wants out.  She’s crying because she knows I am not with her anymore and she’s getting really scared.”

“Oh my” exclaims Hitty Dot “There IS something else in the envelope.  You sit in Hitty Maggies lap Helga, and I’ll get your pet out of the envelope.”

Hitty Dot pulls with all her might, and pulls some pretty pink wrapping free from the envelope.

Hickory Helga jumps up and runs to help Hitty Dot unwrap the package.

“Oh she’s happy now” exclaims Hickory Helga.  “She is so happy to be able to walk and stretch her legs again”.

Hitty Maggie and Hitty Dot laugh joyously as they hug their new pet.

“What is her name” asks Hitty Dot “and what in the world do we feed her”?

“Her name is Lambie” says Hickory Helga “and she loves to eat carrots and celery, those are her favorite foods”.

“Lambie is a beautiful name Helga, and we happen to have a lot of carrots and celery in the kitchen so she’ll have plenty to eat” says Hitty Maggie.

“Welcome to the family Lambie” exclaims Hitty Dot.  “I just may take you for a stroll around the pond later this week, so you can the great big field we have for you to run free in.  You’re going to love it!”

“Baaahhhhh” says Lambie as she moves closer to Hickory Helga.

“She’s still a little frightened” says Hickory Helga “I’m going to walk her around some so she can get used to her new home, and so that I can meet my other Hitty friends, if I may”

“Of course” says Hitty Maggie “I’ll walk with you and introduce you to everyone.  Our family is very friendly, but you will have to excuse the clothespin dolls and flat Andrew.  They love to tease new family members, but they do it in good fun and never mean any harm.”

“Last week they painted one of the cloth Hittys with red paint, at least I think it was them but our Hitty mom keeps saying it was Mystic.  We know better tho, we saw flat Andrew running off with the paintbrush laughing up a storm with the clothespin dolls running right behind him.”

“Yes” said Hitty Dot “they can be mischeivious, but they never intend to do harm.  The cloth Hitty said that she loved her new paint, and since Mystic loves it as well, that’s all that matters.  Hitty mom still has a lot to learn, she didn’t chastise Mystic, she said the doll was now prettier than any doll she’d ever seen. ”

“Oh my, will they paint me or Lambie” cries Hickorty Helga “I want to go back home to my mama if they intend to paint me or lambie”!

“Oh my, we didn’t mean to frighten you” says Hitty Maggie “They would never paint you, they may tweak your nose a bit like they do Hitty Dot, but they would never paint you.  The cloth Hittys are made to be “decorated” in new ways, and they love it.  But you’re already made up completely, so they would never cause you harm in that manner”.

“You don’t know that” Hitty Dot whispers into Hitty Maggies ear “You know we’re all fearful of getting painted now that it’s happened to the cloth Hitty.  I’m just happy that Hitty mom hid the paints so that they can’t find them now, but I’m still scared of all those crayons Mystic keeps all around the house”.

“Shush now” says Hitty Maggie “before she hears you, Hitty mom wouldn’t let anything happen to us like that (…..I hope), she still thinks it’s Mystic that did that and as soon as she realizes who really did it, she’ll lock them in the trunk and only let them come out during playtime when she can supervise, you know this”.

“Yes, let’s hope” whispers Hitty Dot as they start walking to show Hickory Helga and Lambie their new home.
