Meet Hitty Erin

The newest addition to the Merry Happy Hittys family is Hitty Erin, pictured below.
Hitty Erin is made from poplar wood, and is my first Hitty that is the exact height of the original Hitty. She was named Erin for several reasons. One, the poplar wood has a greenish tint and since my Ancestors on my mothers side came from Ireland, I decided an Irish name would be suitable for her.
Also, a Hitty Girls member (Erin…click here to visit her blog) mentioned that one could carve from a single block of wood, instead of using a blank, to make a Hitty. I decided to try this, and found the results to be very pleasing indeed! Erin also suggested better carving tools to accomplish this task, and offered a lot of assistance in the Hitty Girls group to those of us who had questions.
I feel that Erin is the perfect name for a green tinted Irish Hitty who came to be with the help of Erin of the Hitty Girls group.
Hitty Erin has been welcomed into the Merry Happy Hittys home by all the other Hittys and by my whole family. Hitty Dot is showing a tiny bit of jealousy because she thinks that Hitty Erin will replace her, but I have assured Hitty Dot that no one could ever replace her and the joy she brings to this househld!
New Note: Hitty Erin decided to live somewhere else, and is currently residing with someone else.
