Meet Kathie ~ 18″ American Girl Doll

I received a special doll in the mail this past week.  An 18″ Just Like You American Girl doll.  I have named her Kathie after the kind lady that found her for me after I had spent many months looking for the perfect 18″ doll.

Kathie is extra special to me because I plan to use her to learn how to sew more advanced clothing, and because my youngest daughter will also be getting an 18″ doll for Christmas so she can also begin learning to sew.

I enjoy sewing for 6 to 8 inch dolls, but it’s hard to learn some of the sewing techniques that I wish to learn, in such a small scale (like smocking and pants with pockets).   I want to make clothing for Juliet, my SFBJ doll, as well, but she’s so fragile I certainly do not wish to use her for fitting and experimenting.

Kathie wanted to say hello to everyone, she’s very happy about joining my ever growing family of dolls!
